vRigger 9 Revision History

This page lists the enhancements to vRigger version 9. The most recent version is 13.

You can also:

To learn which version you own, choose "Check for Updates" on RescueRigger's Gear (or Insert) toolbar.

Version 9.0 - Minor Update (March 14, 2013)

This minor update improved stability when pasting a rigging system that contained a "puller" (e.g., a hand or winch).

Version 9.0 - Major Upgrade (October 6, 2012)

vRigger version 9.0 is a major upgrade. You can get a quick peek at the new gear here or read this page to learn about the new features.

Gear Finder

With version 9 now including almost 400 pieces of gear, the new Gear Finder makes it much easier to locate gear and add gear to the workspace. Simply type any portion of the gear's name to view matching gear. For example, you can type "double pulley" to see any gear with the terms "double" and "pulley" in the name.

The new Gear Finder replaces the "insert" shortcut menu that appeared when you typed the first letter of gear in previous versions of vRigger.

Snippets

With version 9 you can now save "snippets" that contain several pieces of gear. For example, you can save a snippet named "Anchor Strap" that contains two D-Rings connected to a piece of webbing. You can then quickly drag the anchor strap to the workspace rather than adding each of the three items and then connecting them.

( Watch a training video that shows how to use the snippets pane.)

Save Image Files

Version 9 lets you save the workspace as a bmp, gif, jpg, or png image file. This is done by selecting Save As from the File tab. (And starting with version 10, you can save images as tiff files.)

Line, Ellipse, and Box Shapes

Three new geometric "shapes" were added to version 9 (line, ellipse, and box).

As shown in the following illustration, you can use the "line" shape to create the appearance of an edge.

The shapes can be used to draw other objects, such as storage tanks and confined spaces. (You can download a sample file that explains how these tanks were drawn.)

Multiple Selection Property Pane

When multiple pieces of gear are selected, the properties pane now displays the shared properties. This allows you to, for example, change the friction, size, or weight of several pulleys at once.

New Gear

Eighty pieces of gear were added to version 9 bringing the total to 386. The new gear is shown below. (Note that some of this gear is only available when licensed for the industrial, theatrical, and rope access industries. Click here to see all of vRigger's gear.)
