vRigger 13.2 BETA Revision History

This page lists changes to vRigger BETA version 13.2. It should only be accessed by authorized beta testers. See changes to version 13.1 beta.

Beta builds automatically check for updates each time vRigger is started. You can also check for updates by clicking the "Check for Updates" button on vRigger's Gear toolbar.

05/30/2026
- Added the ability to set the size of the arrowheads on line shapes.
- Fixed a problem where if you selected an item in the Selection pane that was in a group, the grouped gear wasn't being selected.
- Fixed a problem where the icons in the Selection pane's shortcut were wrong.
- Fixed a problem where dotted line shapes that are 1 or 2 pixels wide might not be displayed.
- Fixed a problem where gridlines could be displayed on top of the startup splash screen.
- Update the Help pages that discuss image fragmentation and the Show item as interlocked option in the gear builder.

- Added a "Man (standing, front)."
- Added a "Man (standing, side)."
- In the Gear Builder, the current zoom percentage is now displayed on the Zoom button.
- Fixed a recently induced problem where the Gear Builder could report an "invalid rope count."

- Added a "Man (ascending, crouching)." Thanks to Rodrigo Dadalt for this addition.
- Added a "Man (ascending, standing)." Thanks to Rodrigo Dadalt for this addition.
- Fixed a potential problem where the vRigger icon on the Windows task bar could appear as a blank, white document.

- Added a "Man (ascending, no gear)." This item is only the man, not the rigging gear. We had to make extensive use of the arrangement commands and slack points to create this image.
04/28/2026
- Fixed a problem where sounds and the auto-arranging of gear could be turned off unexpectedly.
- Added a "Harken Wingman." This involved adding three items, a "Pulley (Wingman, w/becket)," a "Becket (Wingman)," and a "Pulley (Wingman, w/cam)." Adding the becket is a little tricky. It is best to open the Wingman sample file, copy it, and paste it into your system.

- Added a "Helicopter (topview, blue)." This is helpful when creating top-view firefighting illustrations.
- Added a "Helicopter (topview, red)." This is helpful when creating top-view firefighting illustrations.
- Added a "Pulley (Harken, Apex Block, 1.5)."
- Added a "Rigging Plate (Harken, Origin TT)."
- Upgraded the tools that are used to build vRigger.
03/20/2026
- Fixed a problem in the new installer where the shortcut that was created on the Desktop would launch the installer, rather than launching vRigger.
- Increased the font size in the Tip of the Day dialog and tweaked the tips.
- Prevent the new Edit in Gear Builder command from being used on an inserted picture.
- Polished a lot of code. This resulted in changes to license keys, graphic rendering, gear folder permissions, internet access, and more. Over the long term, these changes will improve the stability of vRigger. Over the short term, they might induce bugs.

- Transitioned the vRigger installer from an executable (EXE) to a modern Windows Installer (MSI). While this change should be transparent to you, it involved significant internal updates and uses a new installation directory. Please notify us promptly if you encounter any issues. Thanks!

- Enhanced vRigger's update system to support an improved installer. After installing this build, you will be prompted to install another update that uses the newer technology.

- The Opacity control is now enabled in the Gear Builder when using the Edit in Gear Builder command.
- Updated the compiler and code signing certificates.

- Added a Save As command to the Edit in Gear Builder dialog. This allows you to create a new gear file from any item that is on the workspace.
- Prevent an error that can occur if you delete an item that could only be on the end of a rope when the workspace contains the maximum number of items.
- Added additional keywords to the two Rock Exotica SwivaBiners.

- Added a Program Option to reload the last file you worked on when vRigger is launched.
- Fixed a problem in the new Edit in Gear Builder command where "error beeps" were sounded when the Gear Builder was first displayed. Thanks, Rodrigo!
- Fixed a scaling problem that could occur after attempting to open very old vRigger files.
- Updated the force label positions on three anchors.
- Improved code stability.

- Fixed problems related to the recently added Group command. These included issues when pasting gear, and when using the Default Size and Rotation and alignment commands.
- Increased the size of the workspace by 66%.
- Added a Wire Strop snippet.
- Many minor changes were made to this build.
11/21/2025—SUMMARY

The following are the more significant enhancements to vRigger since the public release of version 13.1.
- Added the ability to resize multiple items at the same time, and combined the sizing properties into one section in the Properties pane.
- Added the ability to group gear so multiple items can be selected, moved, rotated, and resized as a single unit.
- Added the ability to edit gear that is on the workspace using the Gear Builder. If you've created gear in vRigger, you should definitely watch this video.
- Added a Mouse Options page to the vRigger Options dialog, which allows you to customize the behavior of the mouse buttons and wheel.

- Gear Builder:
  - Added the ability to edit gear that is on the workspace using the Gear Builder. This is an powerful command.
  - Changed several of the options on the Ropes page in the Gear Builder from checkboxes to radio buttons.
  - Improve the display of the grid labels (e.g., inches or centimeters).
- Multiple selection:
  - If you drag your mouse to select multiple items, and one of the items you are attempting to select is in a group, all of the items in that group will now be selected.
  - If you drag your mouse to select multiple items, and one dot on the end of a rope gets selected, and you then drag the corner of the selection box to resize the selected items, vRigger no longer selects the dot on the other end of the rope.
  - Fixed a problem where if (1) a rope is connected to two items that can only connect to the ends of rope (e.g., an "Anchor (circle)" and a "Load (ball)"), (2) you select both items by dragging your mouse, and (3) you resize the items using the properties pane or by dragging a corner of the selection box, the rope wasn't being resized.
- Grouping:
  - Modified the Disconnect command on the Home toolbar so it provides the option to disconnect items within a group.
  - After ungrouping, the previously grouped gear is now unselected.
  - Removed the display of group information from the "Other Info" section of the Properties pane. It added clutter and wasn't helpful.
- Sizing:
  - Moved all of the sizing settings (e.g., rope size, font size, etc) in the Properties pane to a new "Size" group.
  - Increased the size of the gear rotation "hotspots" so it is easier to rotate gear using your mouse.
  - Increased the size of the padlock that is displayed on locked gear so it is easier to unlock gear using your mouse.
- Gear:
  - Tweaked the names of several prusiks.
  - Fixed a carabiner's connection point.

- Improved resizing of gear when multiple items are selected:
  - Added a new "Relative Size" field to the properties pane. This field allows you to change the relative size of items when multiple items are selected.
  - Text and ropes now resize correctly when resizing multiple items.
  - Rope benders are now adjusted when resizing multiple items.
- Added the ability to change the size of text by dragging the corners of the selection box or by entering the size as a percentage.
- Prevent the popup menu from displaying when you click on overlapping gear that is part of a group.
- Fixed a problem where forces would not calculate on locked items.
- Prevent an error message from displaying when reading very old vRigger files with specific rope colors.
- Modified 14 winches to improve the location of their force labels and/or improve their force calculations.
- Updated the "Ladder" snippet so the lines comprising the ladder are grouped.

- Fixed a problem in the last build that could result in a crash when rotating a very thin line.

- Added the ability to group gear. This allows you to select one item in a group and drag, delete, rotate, etc, all items in that group. You can access the Group and Ungroup commands from the Home toolbar or by clicking your right mouse button on gear.
- Added the ability to resize gear when multiple items are selected.
- Added a new Mouse options page to the Program Options dialog that lets you specify which mouse behaviors zoom, scroll, and pan.
- Fixed a problem where rotating multiple items at the same time could cause some of the items to disconnect.
- Fixed a problem where if you lock gear that has weight (i.e., "mass"), the weight would be set to zero when you unlocked it.
